ACTIVITY 14: THE SECRET OF LOVE

Writing a story through images is also a good idea to develop creativity and encourage active participation, as the image makes the student reflect on the possibilities of the story. As a proposal, the exercise consists of writing the story of Sara Emmanuel Burg's picture book, 'The Secret of Love'. This picture book shows the drawings of the fight between two children for a heart-shaped flower, which they finally plant together and cultivate a whole garden of heart-shaped flowers. However, that story is only defined by images, and can be written in many ways using your imagination. There are also many other picture books that can be used for this activity. Furthermore, this activity can be used to prepare for the KET Cambridge exam (corresponding to level A2 of the Common European Framework). In this exam, the writing part consists of an activity in which students have to write a story from a series of pictures.

Alternatively, students can be asked to watch this video where the picture book is shown and write the story by accessing this link: https://youtu.be/6wInGXmHtig
